A Different Cow
Our A2 milk may be different from what you're used to seeing, but it's not new. Turns out, all cows used to produce the same A2 milk protein before a genetic mutation altered the milk's protein structure, resulting in what is known as A1 milk protein.
Today, most cow's milk contains the A1 milk protein that many find challenging to digest. But not our milk. We only use cows that produce milk with the A2 protein, the way nature intended.

A Better Milk
We are what we eat. The same goes for milk and the cows it comes from. Healthy A2 cows raised on quality soil makes for delicious, nutritious milk. Our ultra-filtered A2 milk is full of protein, vitamins, and calcium. Through this ultra filtration process, lactose is removed and protein is concentrated, resulting in a milk that is:
14g protein per serving
50% less sugar*
Lactose Free
Excellent source of calcium
More easily digested by many
* Than an 8oz serving of regular whole milk

A Brief History of Milk
TL;DR
Milk the Way It Was Meant to Be: Originally, all cows produced A2 protein in their milk, but a genetic change introduced A1 protein, which can be harder for some people to digest.
The Problem with A1 Protein: A1 protein breaks down differently in the body, leading to bloating, gas, and discomfort for many people, causing some to stop drinking milk altogether.
The A2 Solution: A2 milk comes from cows that naturally produce only A2 protein, making it easier on digestion while still offering the same nutrients like calcium and vitamins.
The Pioneer Pastures Promise: We focus on doing things the right way, ensuring all our milk comes from cows that produce only A2 protein, bringing milk back to its pure and simple origins.
Milk That Loves You Back: If you’ve been missing real, creamy milk but struggle with digestion, A2 milk from Pioneer Pastures is here to bring you the joy of milk again—without the worry.
Well, folks, let’s talk about milk—real milk, the way it used to be. You see, back in the day, all cows produced milk with a special kind of protein called A2 beta-casein. That was just how nature made it. Then, over time, some cows went through a little genetic hiccup, and along came A1 beta-casein. It doesn’t seem like much, just a tiny change in the protein, but for some people, that little change makes a big difference.
A1 protein can be tougher on the stomach. It breaks down in the body differently and can leave some folks feeling bloated, gassy, or just plain uncomfortable. Now, we're not scientists, but we've seen enough over the years to know that a lot of people stopped drinking milk because it didn’t sit right with them anymore. That’s where A2 milk comes in.
A2 milk comes from cows that only produce the original A2 protein—no A1 in sight. That means it may be easier on digestion for a lot of folks. It’s still the same wholesome milk, full of calcium, vitamins, and all the good stuff your body needs, but without the discomfort some people feel with regular milk.
Here at Pioneer Pastures, we believe in doing things the right way, not the easy way. That’s why all our milk comes from cows that naturally produce only A2 protein. We’re bringing milk back to how it was meant to be—simple, pure, and good for everyone. Because milk should be something you can enjoy without worrying if it’s going to upset your stomach.
So, if you’ve been missing the taste of real milk but thought your stomach couldn’t handle it, give A2 milk a try. It’s the same creamy, delicious milk you’ve always loved, but it just might love you back a little better. That’s the Pioneer Pastures way—milk, done right.
